Do You Have a Workable Marketing Plan for 2015?

See How to Construct a Winning Marketing Plan for 2015Marketing Plan

Good old Benjamin Franklin once said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”   Having at least a “back of the napkin” marketing plan together for your online efforts should be one of the first orders of the day for 2015.

Knowing which direction we’re headed is always a good idea, and with something as many-headed as an business, organization and a clear plan are a necessity.

But what do you need to include in your online marketing plan for 2015? What specific items or initiatives stand out as things that will drive your business to where you want it to go, and not merely stay stuck where you are now. Let’s take a look at 5 things you’ll want to consider when creating your 2015 online marketing plan.

5 Online Marketing Ideas to consider including in your 2015 marketing plan

1.  Create a content marketing initiative – If one of your goals in 2015 is to create and post more content, and it really should be, know that doing so can help in many ways. Not only for the immediate benefits of new and fresh content for your web properties, but also providing you the ability to repurpose some of that into various forms, multiplying your efforts.  One thing that is working VERY well are using Facebook ads to promote your content to your ideal target audience.

2.  Get into video if you haven’t already – The Internet LOVES video.  And if you have, get further involved! This is a visual Web, and people would rather watch than read, sad to say. But you need to give them what they want, so make sure video and visual content takes on a significant part in your 2015 plan.  I will mention again, Facebook Video is working GREAT!  Shooting a quick video with your Smartphone of a customer testimonial, teaching something about you business, and even sharing a funny moment at your business.

3.  Invest in your Search Engine Optimization – If your site or content has SEO issues, and you aren’t ranking as highly as you would like in Google’s organic search results, perhaps it’s time to invest some time or money or both into improving your SEO. It will be money well spent.  Showing up on the front page of Google for your key terms is money in bank so investigating a strategy to improve your SEO is a smart investment.

4.  Find other sources of traffic – Make it your business to evaluate other forms of web traffic, and begin using them. Simply putting ALL your eggs into the Google basket has never been wise, and considering that there are many great traffic sources available, now is the time. Perhaps it’s time to finally get into paid traffic as well this year.  Here are some different paid traffic source ideas:

  • Google AdWords (the big daddy in the room)
  • Facebook Ads (this is quickly becoming one of the most powerful advertising platforms on the planet
  • Bing Ads – Bing is continuing to get more market share and can be a viable traffic source if you have Google AdWords nailed already
  • You Tube Ads – You Tube is the world’s second biggest search engine and paying to have your videos put in front of your target audience can be powerful.

5.  Build more products and diversify your line – Could this be the year you add a product or new service into your business? If so, this too will require lots of planning, and most certainly needs to a part of your annual plan, as it will require lots of time and resources to get this done.

7 Conversion-Boosting Tips that Will Make You More Money in 2015

NH Strategic Marketing MacbookLet’s talk about ‘effectiveness.’  As a small business owner you are investing time, energy, and even money to get people to come to your website with the hopes that some will ‘convert’ into customers.  The more effective your website is at converting visitors into customers the happier you will be right?

Check Out These 7 Conversion-Boosting Tips that Will Make You More Money in 2015

Everyone wants better conversions. It’s a necessity to stay in business, so the science of conversion optimization is taking on greater importance and more small business owners are paying attention to it.

Even the slightest adjustment to your website can increase or decrease conversions, so you’ll want to pay attention to this and work to get really good at this!

For now though we will look at 7 tips for improving conversions to get you started down the road to more website conversions and more profits!

7 Conversion-Boosting Tips for significantly better conversions

1.  Don’t give a lot of options – Its been said that “the confused mind makes no choice.”  One of the most sure-fire ways to get people to get confused on your website and hit the back button is to have an excessive amount of information. In the same way, even showing too many choices can freeze potential customers into inaction, and so lose the sale.

2.  Test it all – Ideally you should have Google Analytics installed on your website.  If you are selling on your website you should be split-testing every element of sales pages, as this is where you make your money. A single word misplaced can be the difference between a sale or nothing. Even if you are not ‘selling’ on your website directly you are selling the website visitor to call you or fill out a web form to contact you.  If you can improve your contacts over time that will translate into more money.

3.  Know your colors – Colors evoke emotions, and if yours are creating a message in opposition to your sales message, you’ve got a problem. Make sure you understand the science of colors as they apply to sales.

4.  Videos and images are powerful – The brain processes visual media 60,000 times faster than textual data. Not just any images and videos will do however, as you still need to test these as well.  If you have high quality video I would strongly recommend using it.

5.  Take care with your calls to action – Don’t use the stock buttons everyone else does. Make sure you test the shape, wording, placement and colors of your calls to action and buy buttons.  As a small business owner your phone number should absolutely be displayed on the top right hand side of your website.  Make it EASY for your website visitors to find your phone number and don’t make them hunt for it.   This one fix alone can deliver more conversions for you.

6.  Take away unneeded navigation – Think about the purpose of your website for a second.  If you’re like most small business owners you likely either want someone to pick up their phone and call you or fill out a contact form.  Don’t give your prospect the opportunity to be distracted from the action you want them to take.  By structuring your site in a way that makes it easy for the site visitors to take the action that you want you’ll see more conversions.

7.  Don’t go with your gut – Trust the data, not your emotions. Many is the time small business owners have fallen in love with text or visuals that turned out to be totally wrong. Let your testing show you what works!

There you have it, 7  conversion-boosting tips to help you make more money in 2015.
