So what exactly is a Backlink and why are they important to your SEO? A backlink is essentially when one website links back to your website. It isn’t as simple as putting your target keywords on the pages of your site. The search engines have become much more sophisticated and stuffing keywords into your content isn’t the approach you should take to improve your SEO.

 

The search engines are so sophisticated that they can now infer a page’s meaning from the use of synonyms, the meaning (or context) in which content appears, or even just by paying attention to the frequency with which specific word combinations are mentioned. Keywords definitely still matter but using exact-match keywords in specific locations a certain number of times is no longer a critical component of on-page SEO.

 

What is important is how relevant your on-page content is. You need to look at each of the pages on your website with a magnifying glass and ask yourself how relevant the content is to the user intent behind search queries. In this way, on-site SEO is less about repeating certain keywords or placement, and more about understanding who your ideal customer is, what they are looking for, and about what topics you can create content that best serves that need. The best pages that meet these points have content that is:

 

  • In-depth and relevant. “Thin” content was a Google update called Panda. You must have enough content on your pages if you want to have a shot at ranking in Google. The bottom line is that you will need adequate content on your pages if you want to rank.
  • Unique. You must have unique content that isn’t duplicated elsewhere on the Internet.
  • Focused on providing a good user experience. Your content should be laid out in a user-friendly manner. The content should be easy to read and organized on your site in a way that is easy to navigate.
  • Authoritative and helpful. Your content should be helpful and positioned to assist your readers. The more you can help, the better. Your website content should be thorough and authoritative to best serve your visitors.

8. User Experience, Analysis And Optimization

Google is paying very close attention to how people interact with your website in this day and age. Is your website loading quickly and is it easy to navigate? Are there broken links or pages that are broken? Your website must be set up in a way that provides a good user experience to anyone who visits.

 

Further than that, your website content should match user search intent. In a nutshell, this means that your content should match the reason why people are searching. An increasingly-important part of optimizing for quality content is also delivering on the expectations that people have when searching online for answers. The content on your site should align with the search queries for which they rank.
